Last week's results were mixed with limited action. 3 of the 4 qualified Teaser teams were successful but the lone team to come up short was our top Rated Excellent team, Indianapolis. Our lone Very Good team, San Diego, was successful in Teaser play as were both Marginal teams, Carolina and Chicago.

This is our final Issue of the NFL Teaser Newsletter for the 2009 season. We do not publish the Newsletter during the Playoffs since at most only 8 teams are in action in each of the first two weeks and also an increasingly greater number of Sports Books do not allow two team Teasers in the Playoffs. Part of the reason for this may be the historically high rate of success enjoyed by Home teams in the NFL Playoffs.

Within the next few weeks we shall publish a special online edition of the Newsletter that will contain the final statistics for the 2009 season and will also present the final team by team Teaser results for all 32 team as well as showing the 3 season (2007-2009) and 6 season (2004-2009) totals for each team.

As we wrap up the 2008 season, let's turn our attention to week 17. Here are this week's qualified teams:

Just one game shows the potential for being a 'Two Way Teaser' winner this week:

Tennessee at Seattle

Week 17 is always an unusual week that presents special challenges as most games have little or no meaning with regard to making the Playoffs or in Playoff positioning. Many teams are just playing out the string in a disappointing season while teams bound for the Playoffs often rest their starters. Pointspreads often resemble those found in pre season games and cutting back the size of Teaser plays to one half the normal size might be a suggestion to follow when Teasing teams playing in games where there is little or nothing on the line.

Just 3 teams qualify for play as Marginal or better this week. A round robin using the 3 qualified teams would produce just 3 Teasers while using the lone Excellent team with both the lone Very Good team and the lone Marginal team would result in just 2 Teasers.

Overall 2009 has been a very solid and rewarding season for this Newsletter. It is our hope that you have learned much from this Newsletter over the 17 weeks of the season, especially as to the mathematics of Teasers and the various strategies that can be used in playing them.

Happy Holidays to one and all.

Good luck. We'll see you next season

And be sure to check your email and our website online for the final 2009 Teaser Recap issue as described above which we expect to publish within the next 2 to 3 weeks.
